After-Hours Events With Salvador Dali by the NYC High Line

If you love surrealist guru Salvador Dali, then you'll love a new venue opening by New York City's High Line that will feature a collection of 24 of his paintings. This is a decor-driven cocktail event option that is also close to many hospitality properties in the Meatpacking District, Flatiron and Chelsea neighborhoods. Your attendees will experience the creative mixology that has become to be expected in New York, they will enjoy the goodness of Williamsburg Pizza's Neopolitan pies, and we hear at least a block of the music will be 60's themed!

Private Shopping at Destination Meetings: Wear What the Celebs Wear

Shackman Associates New York has run multiple private shopping events for both attendees and spouses at destination corporate meetings, but we love this new trend of vintage shopping that provides a glimpse of Broadway and Hollywood. And it even gets crazier when you incorporate an art dealer who has integrated this theme into an entire designer closet of a private collection that stars love. Overall, your attendees can go total glitter gold, hipster, European haute or sexy rock and roll.

Pre-Meeting Sundays: A Local New York Treasure Gets More Creative

New York City locals love their Sunday brunches, and they have become bigger and more creative than ever. It's an experience you will not have anywhere else in the world. That's why meeting planners, who might be already flying in attendees before Monday, should consider thinking out of the box by getting them in a little bit earlier, because the new wave of Sunday brunches is the kind of local experience attendees want. Some of the new brunch trends we love are Middle Eastern themes in Manhattan's Flatiron District, Mediterranean dishes in Gramercy, and even a Vietnamese twist on breakfast. And if you are planning a meeting in Brooklyn, there is no end to the creativity.

Hudson Yards Continues to Offer New Event Venues

The new Hudson Yards super-development on the West Side of Manhattan is rolling out more venues that are ideal for corporate events. We recently visited one that provides a clean atrium feel for standing cocktail hours. The key to this specific event venue versus the others that are on the way is that it is already up and running. We love the overall architectural approach to the development that has already attracted major fashion giant Coach, as well as L'Oreal, as key tenants.

New York City Breaks Visitor Record for the 8th Straight Year

We were never buyers on last year's predictions that political headwinds in the U.S. would dramatically impact demand for international business travel and the MICE industry. Well, we were right. According to the city, overall tourism in 2017 grew by 3.8 percent with domestic tourism growing at a rate of 3.9 percent and international tourism growing at a rate of 3.4 percent. That is the 8th straight year New York City has broken its own record. This is also leading to more hotel options for destination meeting planners, and the city's inventory has now crossed 116,000 rooms. The newest hotels opening in 2018 provide world-class tech options, highly artistic decor throughout, exciting food

Rock Out Your Corporate Gala to David Bowie in Brooklyn

Shackman Associates New York has thrown multiple galas at New York City museums for destination corporate meeting groups. We really love what the Brooklyn Museum has done with its tribute to rock star David Bowie. It includes music, costumes, sketches, stage props and other items that can be an incredible backdrop for your event. Looking to match the vibe with music? There are multiple David Bowie tribute bands that play throughout the New York area!

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Heads to New Jersey

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino brand, which is considered a premier operation in the industry, will soon be opening in Atlantic City after a $500 million renovation at the former Trump Taj Mahal. Every inch of the property has been upgraded and is comparable to Hard Rock's wildly successful model in Florida. In addition to providing extensive space for destination corporate meetings and events, we are also excited to hear that the Hard Rock is bringing in over 200 shows to an expanded arena of 7,000 seats. This is a huge shift for Atlantic City as it has been typically rare to have any shows available for meeting groups during weekdays, unless it is summer. It's a great draw for major associ

Beer Garden Events Get Hip

With tomorrow being St. Patrick's Day, millions dream of having that perfect pint to celebrate. It's also a great time to be thinking about holding a destination corporate meeting event at one of many New York beer gardens. This concept has evolved from simply a massive beer hall. In fact, we have found some usual beer garden venues that are pushing the envelope in both design and taste. One of our favorites is a converted gas station that has become a beer-lover's destination. With over 13,000 square feet, this indoor-outdoor venue offers over 60 beers on tap and fun team-building activities like bocce. We also love the seasonal food menu. Bottoms up!

Zagat's "Best Burger" Expands to Brooklyn's Barclays Center

Brooklyn has been so hot for destination corporate meetings that some of Manhattan's top food venues have expanded across the East River to be a part of it. We love that a top Zagat-rated burger venue is locating itself at the Barclays Center. Barclays Center is so much more than a sports arena. With more hotels opening in Brooklyn in 2018, it is an ideal venue for corporate meetings, association conventions and other special business events. Having top food destinations near it makes Brooklyn even more appealing for meeting planners.

Corporate Dinners and Events: Harry's Steakhouse Reopens

One of the most famous Downtown Manhattan steakhouses has reopened after a $1 million renovation. While it is best known by millions of movie fans as an iconic setting in "Bonfire of the Vanities" and "American Psycho", it also features attendee favorites such as Beef Wellington. Your attendees will feel extra pampered with both table-side steak service, and martini drink service. The revival of this NYC institution is an excellent option if you have executives who meet in New York every year, or perhaps a financial incentive group up to 240 people. This iconic venue even has rare whiskeys that can be stored in personal chambers!

Corporate Meeting Lunches: Serve Healthy IN Mason Jar Decor

It's not hard to attend an event and see mason jars being used somewhere, somehow as a decor or centerpiece element. What if the Mason jars were used on the menu itself? We are seeing a trend where meeting planners can provide their destination corporate meeting attendees with healthy luncheons that use these jars to serve everything from Caprese pasta salads to spinach, radish and quinoa salads. Of course, your menu can get creative by combining anything including spring roll ingredients, ethnic-ingredient-infused meals, and even cold soups. This kind of lunch idea provides more venue flexibility that could include multiple outdoor spaces. It could also be added after-hours at tastings wher

High-Hotel for High-Tech Meeting Attendees

Today's destination corporate meeting attendees are constantly seeking ways to incorporate technology into their experiences. New York City has recently been ranked as the nation's #2 tech headquarters behind Silicon Valley, and there is one hotel brand, the Artezan, that is creating an entire hospitality venue based on high-tech suites. It's downtown Manhattan location, opening in Mid-2018, promises to deliver all kinds of gadgetry. We are really curious how the hotel launches its state-of-the- art yoga program, but it is likely to be part of a trillion-dollar trend of incorporating wellness lifestyle with wearable and sensory technology. And we love the early glimpse at the two-floor bar a
